Coeleen Kiebert
Cloeleen Kiebert is a sculptor from California who uses many materials and processes to complete her work. These two pieces are from her series titled "The Navigator" Using clay, wire, brass , copper, and other objects such as compasses, and time pieces, she produces her body of work. These particular pieces are about trying to navigate through the unknown of the afterlife. They are her way of dealing with her, and our impending deaths.
Her pieces have many fitted pieces that are not clay that she must deal with during the clay shrinking process. They are good examples of material hybrids and perfect examples of fitting non-clay items into clay and making the piece cohesive in the end.
