April Mae Bassett

KATE D. MACDOWELL
Is an American Artist who has traveled and worked in many places and has been influenced by the world around her.  She uses Porcelain for is ghostly qualities and presentation of detail.  Some of her work is lit up so that light and images can come through on her ceramic pieces. “In my work this romantic ideal of union with the natural world conflicts with our contemporary impact on the environment.”  Her work responds to the environmental failures that are happening all around us.  I love the combination of these elements.  I feel s though I can connect to the natural world that is suffering at our very feet.  I have always been a fan of science, nature, and fantasy and I feel that she captures all of these elements.
