Aisha Le Blue Sims

Beth Katleman

Katleman’s sculptures have been summed up  by Ken Johnson in the New York Times as “doll-sized rococo theaters of murder and domestic mayhem.”
"My sculptures and installations combine rococo decoration with icons from popular culture.  I comb the flea markets in search of 1950's squeaky toys, corporate mascots, miniature buildings, cartoon characters and dolls." (bethkatleman.com)

She combines ornamentation with everyday practical items to create these over the top non-functional hybrid imaginary decors. That are reminiscent of Rocco combined with toys and dolls. She attended Stanford for a BA in English, Cranbrook Academy of Art for a MFA and UCLA where she received an MBA.
